The 18^th of May 2013, during the 13th edition of Porsche Francorchamps  Days Vander Haeghen & Co, the first Porsche “Elegance contest”, will take place in Belgium in honor of the 50th anniversary of the the 911.

A selection of fifty cars will compete in four different categories:

• “RS”, the 2.7-liter to the 993
• “Turbo”, the 930 to the 993
• “Speedster-Cabrio-Targa over 20 years”
• “The most beautiful 911 through its 50 years of existence.”

This last category will meet some of the best models of the seven generations, and will be selected by the public.  The owner of the winning car will receive a 911 BRM watch.

The winners of the other categories will be selected by a jury of experts and specialists from Porsche and automotive. The cars will be shown from 10am to 1pm and the catwalk show will take place from 2 pm to 5 pm, followed by the awards ceremony.

At Spa, from 24 to 26 May, Touring cars are back on the track!

Spa is one of the major appointments for all motor racing disciplines and the Spa-Classic, now positioned as the Belgian classic car event, is inspired by the fundamentals which made the international fame of the circuit.

Brand new in 2013: the appearance of two Touring cars grids to complete the ‘Spa-Classic Endurance’ pole; a flash back to the Spa-Francorchamps 24 Hours. They join the C.E.R. grids, the Group C, Sixties’ Endurance, the Trofeo Nastro Rosso, the 911 Spa-Classic Jubilee celebrating half a century of the 911’s glorious history and the Historic Formula 2 on the track for the third Spa-Classic.

Another highlight of the event is obviously the Auction to be run by major Auctioneers Company Bonhams to be held at the circuit on Saturday.

No Spa-Classic without the Clubs, other major actors of the event, the exhibitor village now in the centre of the paddock and many activities such as the Soap Boxes…

Did you know that … At the age of 24, Ferdinand Porsche, with a fascination for electricity, built his first car for Lohner & C°. An electric car!
In the same year, he designs a second vehicle with a hybrid gasoline-electric propulsion system, called the Lohner-Porsche.
A new adventure starts ….

To-day, 113 years later, Porsche launches a new hybrid model, the 918 with breathtaking performances.

Between these two vehicles, three generations succeeded each other, all with the first name « Ferdinand ». An extraordinary family story, setting
milestones for more than a century, gave birth to exceptional cars with a

With the hybrid Lohner-Porsche and other vehicles realized for Lohner&C°, “la Sascha” built at the Austro Daimler factory in Vienna and the SSK for Daimler-Benz in Stuttgart. Furthermore the cars built by his designing firm for Wanderer, Audi, Auto Union, the Silver Arrows, the Volkswagen Prototype, the “Schwimmwagen, etc. … .

* Ferdinand Porsche called « Ferry »
Ferry Porsche, the real soul of the brand.Several eye-catching cars from the  fifties such as the 356, a 550 Spyderand the 718.

We owe him the 911. The 50th Anniversary is an excellent opportunity to show the different seven generations. Together with the 906, 908, 912 and 914 …. .

Thanks to him, Porsche graduated to the highest levels of motor racing on all the circuits in the world. Especially with the unforgettable 917. The reason why this part of the exhibition, a tribute toFerdinand Piëch, will focus on the racing cars.

« The topic » of the exhibition, the new Porsche 918 Hybrid Spyder!

Autoworld host op zaterdag 16 maart de eerste editie van de Club Night.
De Mezzanine van het museum wordt voor deze gelegenheid  omgetoverd  tot een “BFOV museum”.
De deelnemende autoclubs zullen die avond met fierheid hun club voorstellen aan de hand van één of meerdere tentoongestelde voertuigen.
Het hoogtepunt van de avond wordt zonder twijfel de uitreiking van de trofee ‘oldtimer van het jaar 2013′.

Dit event is een echte aanrader voor elke oldtimer-fan!

Voor het 5^de opeenvolgende jaar zijn alle VW Kevers (en uitsluitend de Kevers) – oude en nieuwe – uitgenodigd om samen te komen op zondag 10 februari 2013, vanaf de middag, voor het museum Autoworld, op de Esplanade van het Jubelpark in Brussel.

 Deze grote samenkomst van ‘Love Bugs’ (er zijn steeds meer deelnemers: van 50 in 2009 tot 200 in 2012!) is een sympathieke knipoog naar het Feest van de Verliefden dat enkele dagen later plaatsvindt.

 De Love Bugs Parade wordt stilaan een traditie en neemt de Kevers mee door de straten van de hoofdstad met dit jaar een halte aan het Bozar om de mooiste onder hen te begroeten… de Vochol, die uitzonderlijk tentoon staat tijdens de maand februari.

Vocho + Huichol = Vochol!

 In Mexico wordt de kever ‘vocho’ genoemd en hij is daar uitgegroeid tot een echt instituut. Uit de Mexicaanse Volkswagenfabriek van Puebla zijn meer dan anderhalf miljoen Kevers gerold. In 1973 vertegenwoordigde de productie liefst een derde van alle voertuigen die werden verkocht in Mexico! Tot voor kort telde de stad Mexico bijna 100.000 ‘vocho verde’, de mythische groene taxi’s.
In 2010 vroeg het Museo de Arte Popular van Mexico-City aan acht ambachtslieden van twee Indiaanse Huichol-families om een ‘vocho’ te versieren. Zich inspirerend op hun cultuur, decoreerden ze het voertuig met 2.277.000 gekleurde glazen parels die Huichol-symbolen voorstellen. Het resultaat, een echt kunstwerk, gaf geboorte aan de ‘Vochol’!Brussel is de laatste halte van de wereldtournee van de Vochol, na prestigieuze etappes zoals de Quai Branly in Parijs. In de lente vertrekt het voertuig naar Houston in de Verenigde Staten waar het op een veiling zal verkocht worden.De Vochol zal vanaf 31 januari 2013 tentoon staan in het Bozar.
De deelnemers aan de Love Bugs Parade zullen dus bij de eerste zijn om hem te bewonderen.

Autoworld in het teken van de Kevers 

Al verschillende jaren wijdt het museum Autoworld de maand februari aan de kever. Dit jaar wordt geen uitzondering en men zal er van 7 tot 24 februari drie exposities rond dit thema kunnen bezoeken.

Tentoonstelling van de beste reclames voor de Kever

Ze zijn vaak grappig, goedaardig en zeer creatief… de oude ‘reclames’ en de ‘pub’ van vandaag hebben van de VW Kever een van de sympathiekste voertuigen ter wereld gemaakt.
De beste voorbeelden, gedrukte en andere, zullen tijdens de maand februari tentoon staan in Autoworld.

Het verhaal van de Kever met tien emblematische wagens

Een tiental modellen vertellen over de geschiedenis van de Kever, te beginnen met een van de dertig fameuze type 30, ontworpen door Ferdinand Porsche in 1937, tot de Beetle van de 21^e eeuw. U ziet ook enkele beroemde Kevers en de ‘Africaine’ die de tocht uit 1950, Brussel-Léopoldville en terug, evoqueert van Pierre D’Ieteren, Jacques Swaters, Jacques Cortvriendt en Christian Nicolaï de Gorhez,

In Miniversie… nog leuker!

En om het geheel af te ronden, zijn er uitstalkasten met miniatuurmodellen die in scène zijn gezet in schitterende diorama’s.

Toekomstige reclamejongens

Op de dag van de Love Bugs Parade worden de kinderen van de deelnemers uitgenodigd om hun eigen publicitaire creaties mee te brengen die de Love Bugs van hun ouders voorstellen. Dat kan in om het even welke vorm en de creaties zullen tentoongesteld worden in Autoworld tot 24 februari.

Elke (kleine) reclameman/vrouw in de dop wordt uiteraard beloond.

Gratis deelname!

Zoals ieder jaar is de deelname aan de Love Bugs Parade volledig gratis voor de eigenaars van de kevers en hun passagiers.
De inschrijving is verplicht en omvat: het onthaal in Autoworld, het roadbook, de rallyplaat, het bezoek aan de Vochol in Bozar, het vieruurtje in Autoworld en het vrij bezoek aan het museum.

Donderdag 15 november vond de persvoorstelling van het gloednieuwe Michel Vaillant album ‘In de naam van de zoon’  plaats in het bekende Autoworld museum in Brussel. De papieren stripheld heeft sinds juni een vaste stek in de gerenoveerde Sport & Competitie Zone van het museum, het was dan ook logisch dat uitgeverij DUPUIS koos voor het automuseum als locatie voor de deze bijzondere gelegenheid.

De populaire strip – die voor het eerst verscheen in 1957 – onderging een compete make-over.

Het vernieuwde team met Philippe Graton – de zoon van Jean Graton –  aan het roer lanceert een volledige nieuw seizoen van de bekende strip met een nieuwe grafische vormgeving en met veel aandacht voor de actualiteit van de gehele autosector en de autosport in het bijzonder. 

De nieuwe strip is binnenkort uiteraard verkrijgbaar in de shop van het museum!

Le lundi 22 octobre dernier a eu lieu le dîner de gala annuel de Think-Pink à l’Autoworld à Bruxelles.

C’est dans ce cadre prestigieux, dans une atmosphère placée sous le signe de l’élégance et du rire en la présence de l’imitateur Olivier Laurent que les invités ont été accueilli . Tous avaient pensé à porter une touche rose personnelle pour prendre part à ce repas raffiné.

A la surprise générale, pour clôturer cette merveilleuse soirée, Tatiana Sylva et Tania Dexters avaient enfilé une combinaison de pilote pour annoncer qu’elles participeront au Rallye des Gazelles en mars 2013. Elles prendront part à ce Rallye qui se déroulera au Maroc au volant d’une Skoda Yeti customisée aux couleurs de Think-Pink. Elles se sont engagées dans  ce rallye, non seulement pour attirer l’attention sur le cancer du sein, mais aussi pour rapporter de l’argent afin de réaliser un projet visant à  amener les catégories de femmes qui ne sont  jamais ciblées lors des campagnes de dépistage en Belgique à se rendre aux mammotests.

Cet évènement organisé par Fiat et l’agence « The Red Line », avait pour but de remettre aux concessionnaires un exemplaire de ce tout nouveau modèle, important pour la marque Italienne. C’est dans les installations d’Autoworld que les participants ont eu droit à un briefing d’introduction des managers Fiat et d’un lunch, entrecoupé par une parade dans les rues de Bruxelles au volant de ce nouveau modèle.

Enfin il s’agissait aussi de donner le signal de départ officiel du lancement de ce véhicule chez nous, durant ce weekend des 20 & 21 octobre, dans tout le réseau Fiat.
