6th Love Bugs Parade to mark Volkswagen’s return to the Fun Cup!
The happy owners of VW Bugs/Beetles of all ages eagerly await this day every year!
The Love Bugs Parade, held in Brussels around the time of St Valentine’s Day, attracts ‘Bug fans’ from all corners of Belgium as well as from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, northern France and the southern Netherlands. So why do they come? They arrive in groups, if they belong to a club, or individually, each at the wheel of their Herbie, and assemble on the Esplanade du Cinquantenaire in front of the Autoworld museum. From there, they set off on a tour of around two hours that takes them down avenues, streets and country roads.

Fewer stops and more driving
Since 2009, the parade has travelled through the streets of the capital in order to admire the historic buildings of Brussels, with brief stops here and there at places of symbolic significance.
This year, the organisers have planned a slightly longer route, without any stops, which will take this delightful and evocative parade onto the roads of Walloon Brabant.

After setting off from Autoworld at 2 pm sharp, the Bugs will travel down Avenue de Tervueren and head for Boulevard du Souverain, which they will take as far as Chaussée de la Hulpe. From there, they will take the Pont de Groenendæl and pass in front of the Château de la Hulpe before turning right onto Avenue Reine Astrid, heading towards Waterloo and its famous Mound. They will then pass through Waterloo and return to Autoworld via Drève de Lorraine, Boulevard du Triomphe and part of the Boulevard Saint-Michel.

As always, there will be refreshments awaiting all participants at Autoworld, where an exhibition of VW Fun Cups will be held from 1 February.

At Autoworld – Love Bug month pays tribute to the Fun Cups
In keeping with another tradition, February’s temporary exhibition at Autoworld will be devoted to the VW Beetle. This year, several examples of Fun Cups will be exhibited from 1 to 28 February, thus also marking the return of Volkswagen to the Fun Cup 25 Hours in July 2014.

Belgium VW Club presents its programme
Following this event, the Belgium VW Club will take advantage of the presence of the Love Bugs Paraders to present its programme for the year to everyone, with of course a particular emphasis on the Fun Cup 25 Hours event to be held on 12 and 13 July at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

One good thing leads to another, and all the participants in the Love Bugs Parade 2014 will be invited to meet in Francorchamps for a super parade of the “most beautiful circuit in the world,” on Saturday 12 July, just before the race kicks off!

It’s an experience that no Beetle fan would want to miss!

In the meantime, we hope to see owners of Bugs/Beetles at Autoworld Brussels for the Love Bugs Parade on Sunday 16 February 2014, from midday onwards, as well as enthusiasts who wish to admire these charming little cars.

Practical information: Just like every year, participation in the Love Bugs Parade is completely free for Beetle owners and their passengers.
