Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Corvette, Dodge Charger, Cheverolet Camaro, Pontiac GTO, Plymouth Road Runner …Do these cars set your pulse racing?

During November we will have the pleasure of presenting some legendary American mass-produced cars that were typical mid-range models in the 60s and 70s. Most are equipped with a large-capacity V8 engine – all you need for maximum power.

In the 50s, American manufacturers (Ford, General Motors and Chrysler) began focusing on high-performance cars. The trend continued in the 60s. Muscle cars became increasingly large and heavy, with additional accessories. To avoid any compromise on performance, engines become more and more powerful. In the 70s some models even reached 450 hp.
Criticism arose in the same period. Some argued that it was irresponsible to offer such powerful cars to young, inexperienced buyers. Insurance companies responded by raising premiums, and environmentalists spoke out against high CO2 emissions. After the first oil crisis, fuel prices also rose.
The manufacturers shifted their focus to economy and safety.

The market for muscle cars contracted rapidly, and there was a noticeable decrease in the number of models.Muscle cars that have withstood the test of time have become coveted collectibles.
