Low Emission Zone (LEZ) in Brussels: WHATISTHAT?

The LEZ in Brussels? Am I affected?
Confusion often reigns as to whether or not one is allowed to enter Brussels with a classic car … or one not that old.
Legislation varies from city to city however, for Brussels, there is a site that covers all the necessary information:
It is also important to check all automatic derogations from the basic legislation on It is specified that an automatic derogation is granted to “vehicles ”oldtimers “ registered in Belgium and with a Belgian “0”, “1-0” licence plate or with a personalised licence plate (in accordance with article 4, §2, of the ministerial decree dating from 23rd July 2001 relating to the registration of vehicles) and which are more than 30 years old.”
In résumé, if you have a vehicle of more than 30 years old with an “0“or “1-0” licence plate in Belgium, you will have access to Autoworld without any problem.
You own a Youngtimer not meeting the norms in force? Sorry, you will not be able to have access unless you have made a prior application or purchased a day pass.

We must emphasise that in no way can Autoworld be held liable for fines due to contraveners not complying with the legislation in force, be it for a group event such as a Parade, a club visit or even individually.
