In the 1980s, almost the entire Opel range could be converted with Mattig’s “Breitbau outfits.” He also supplied components to Brabus and Elia. But his greatest fame came in 1992 with the film Manta Manta, in which a Manta B tuned by him with a “Super Extrem” body kit in candy colors played the leading role. The storyline was rather stereotypical: a young man, Bertie, clashes with an arrogant nightclub and Mercedes owner, Axel, and challenges him to a street race… The film became a hit in Germany. A sequel even appeared in 2023. Mattig began his career as a driver and engine tuner, and this movie car (one of two) is therefore not equipped with the standard four-cylinder, but with a six-cylinder producing 236 hp.
