The success of the 'Big in Japan' Preview Night

The opening evening of the summer exhibition 'Big in Japan' took place on Wednesday 2 July at Autoworld. Over 400 guests were welcomed in an atmosphere that was both warm—literally and figuratively—and celebratory.

From the moment they arrived, visitors were immersed in a distinctly Japanese setting, brought to life through a carefully curated ambience. Traditional Japanese music, performed live with Taiko drums and the refined Koto harp, created a soundscape that was as original as it was enchanting. Later in the evening, a DJ took over to keep the energy high well into the night.

Official speeches were delivered by the museum’s chairman, Mr Guy Verhofstadt, and managing director Sébastien de Baere, both of whom highlighted the importance and cultural richness of Japanese automotive heritage. The event was further distinguished by the honourable presence of the Embassy of Japan, emphasising the value of this special collaboration.

On this occasion, Mazda unveiled its new Mazda 6e in an exclusive premiere—becoming the centre of attention in the main hall.

The evening concluded with a refined tasting of Japanese cuisine, adding the perfect finishing touch to the unique atmosphere of this Preview Night. A resounding success in every respect.

'Big in Japan' is already shaping up to be one of Brussels’ unmissable exhibitions of the summer—an experience not to be missed by car and culture enthusiasts alike.
