Walter Treser was responsible for vehicle concept development at Audi in Ingolstadt. One of those projects was a coupe intended to promote the virtues of all wheel drive. He even found a fitting name for it: Quattro. After being burned in a pitstop-accident, he was sidelined by Audi and he created his own company, of which Audi was a major client. He developed an Audi Quattro roadster with retractable steel roof, years before the big car makers embraced this technology. It features the same 5 cylinder 2 144 cc turbo engine developing 200 hp and driving the four wheels. In all, Walter Treser built some 40 of these roadsters with electric hard-top.
