The fall of the Berlin Wall was subject, of course, but the thirst for change had been blowing through the country for some time. Koënig, Abt, Hartge, Ruf, Irmscher, Gembala, Brabus, AMG, Alpina and so many other companies left nothing or no one untouched. Every Opel, Volkswagen, Mercedes or BMW fell victim. Even sacred houses like Ferrari, Porsche or Lamborghini had to go and were given gaudy optical additions hammered against the bodywork, while the engines were boosted to the limit.
